Anthem
Anthem Electronics originated as an offshoot of Sonic Frontiers, a Canadian high-end audio company that built its reputation producing stereo preamplifiers and amplifiers of notable refinement. In 1998, Paradigm Electronics — the Canadian loudspeaker manufacturer — acquired Anthem as part of Sonic Frontiers, bringing together two complementary teams under one group. Anthem and Paradigm have since operated as sister brands, sharing engineering resources and a research facility in Mississauga, Ontario.
A key outcome of the 1998 merger was the integration of Anthem's electronics expertise with the scientists at Paradigm's Advanced Research Centre (PARC) in Ottawa, established in 1993. Their room correction protocols and algorithms were incorporated into Anthem's products and eventually became Anthem Room Correction — ARC — launched in 2008. ARC has since evolved through ARC-2 (2014), ARC Mobile for iOS and Android (2016), and ARC Genesis (2019).
Today Anthem produces a range of AV receivers, stereo integrated amplifiers, AV preamplifier-processors, and multichannel power amplifiers, all developed in Canada. The brand is particularly known for combining high-current amplifier designs with advanced room correction technology, targeting both two-channel and home theatre applications. In 2019, Scott Bagby completed a purchase of Paradigm Electronics, Anthem Electronics, and MartinLogan Loudspeakers, returning the group to founder-led ownership.
