The Anthem AVM 70 is a 15.2-channel AV processor that sits just below the flagship AVM 90 in Anthem’s dedicated pre-amplifier/processor range. Where the AVM 90 extends to 15.4 channels, the AVM 70 delivers 15.2-channel processing with balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA pre-outs for every channel, making it a flexible foundation for systems paired with external power amplification such as Anthem’s own MCA series.
Audio Processing
The AVM 70 decodes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS:X Pro, DTS Virtual:X, and IMAX Enhanced soundtracks, supporting up to 15 speakers and two independent subwoofer outputs. Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by 32-bit/768 kHz DACs, fed by a toroidal power supply designed to minimise noise in the analogue output stages.
ARC Genesis Room Correction
Anthem’s proprietary ARC Genesis room correction system uses a precision measurement microphone and advanced algorithms to analyse and correct the acoustic characteristics of the listening environment. Rather than applying broad EQ curves, ARC Genesis targets specific room-induced problems in the frequency response. Four separate correction profiles can be stored and recalled, allowing different optimisations for music, film, or multi-channel configurations.
Video and HDMI
The AVM 70 provides seven HDMI 2.0b inputs (HDCP 2.2) and three HDMI outputs, including a dedicated Zone 2 output and eARC on the main output. Video pass-through supports 4K/60 at full 4:4:4 chroma subsampling with 18.2 Gbps bandwidth. HDR formats include Dolby Vision, HDR10, Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG), and the BT.2020 wide colour gamut. HDMI pass-through remains active in standby mode for seamless source switching.
Streaming and Connectivity
Built-in wireless streaming includes Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast Audio, and Bluetooth v4.2. Network connectivity is available via both Wi-Fi and Ethernet. The processor supports IP and RS-232 serial control for integration with home automation systems from Savant, Control4, RTI, URC, Crestron, and ELAN. A web-based interface provides full configuration access from any browser on the local network.
