The Anthem AVM 90 is the flagship AV processor in Anthem's lineup, sitting above the AVM 70 and succeeding the AVM 60. Designed and engineered in Canada, the AVM 90 delivers 15.4 channels of discrete audio processing with support for configurations up to 9.4.6, making it one of the most capable processors in its class. Its four independent subwoofer outputs, each with dedicated phase and distance-delay settings, allow ARC Genesis to correct multiple subwoofers individually for frequency response and phase alignment.
Audio Architecture
At the heart of the AVM 90 is a pair of ESS Sabre ES9038PRO DACs handling all 19 channels of conversion. The ES9038PRO is an 8-channel, 32-bit converter capable of 768 kHz sampling, 132 dB dynamic range, and −122 dB THD+N. Signal processing is managed by a 1.6 GHz dual-core DSP running a 32-bit floating-point audio path, ensuring precision throughout the decode and rendering chain. An oversized toroidal power supply isolates high-power signals from the sensitive audio pathway, and premium high-layer-count circuit boards with additional isolating ground planes give each channel a unique, pristine signal path.
Immersive Audio and Video
The AVM 90 decodes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS:X Pro, DTS Virtual:X, and is IMAX Enhanced certified. Seven HDMI 2.1 inputs with HDCP 2.3 support 8K/60 and 4K/120 passthrough, while three HDMI outputs — two for the main zone plus an independently switchable Zone 2 output — provide flexible routing. HDR format support includes HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG). eARC on the main output enables lossless audio return from compatible televisions.
ARC Genesis Room Correction
Anthem Room Correction (ARC) Genesis is included, with a redesigned high-precision calibration microphone and stand. The software runs on both Windows and macOS, measuring the acoustic characteristics of the room and generating correction filters for every channel and subwoofer independently. With four discrete subwoofer outputs, ARC Genesis can individually equalise each subwoofer's response and phase, producing tightly integrated bass across the listening area.
Streaming and Connectivity
Built-in streaming includes Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast Audio, and Bluetooth v4.2, with Spotify Connect and Roon support. A built-in MM phono stage allows direct turntable connection. Network connectivity is provided via both Ethernet and Wi-Fi. IP and RS-232 control interfaces support integration with home automation systems, and the built-in web interface allows configuration from any phone, tablet, or laptop on the network.
Outputs
All 19 channels are available on both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA pre-outs, providing maximum flexibility when pairing with external power amplifiers such as Anthem's own MCA series. The front panel features a high-resolution display and a headphone output.
