Paradigm
Paradigm Electronics was founded in 1982 by Jerry VanderMarel and Scott Bagby, with a commitment to producing high-performance loudspeakers at accessible prices using scientific research rather than speculation. The company is headquartered outside Toronto, Canada, where its speakers continue to be designed, engineered, and manufactured today. From the outset, Paradigm drew on the research of university audio scientists and findings from studies conducted by Canada's National Research Council, with the aim of building speakers that deliver accurate, uncoloured sound reproduction.
In 1988, Paradigm built its first anechoic chamber, and in 1993 opened the Paradigm Advanced Research Centre (PARC) in Ottawa, a dedicated laboratory housing scientists and engineers focused on speaker and electronics design. A 225,000-square-foot manufacturing facility opened in Toronto in 2001, incorporating North America's largest privately-owned anechoic chamber, and providing full in-house control over cabinet construction, driver assembly, crossover design, CNC machining, and finishing. The Signature Series, introduced in 2004, brought beryllium tweeter technology to the range, while the Persona Series launched in 2016 as Paradigm's flagship audiophile line.
Today Paradigm produces a comprehensive range of loudspeakers spanning floorstanding, bookshelf, centre channel, surround, and in-wall and in-ceiling models, as well as powered subwoofers. Product lines include the Founder, Premier, Monitor SE, and Persona series, alongside a dedicated Custom Installation range. Paradigm is the sister brand of Anthem Electronics, with both companies sharing engineering resources at PARC.
