The Pro-Ject Wash it 2 is a next-generation record cleaning fluid, formulated as part of the Pro-Ject Vinyl Cleaner range. It represents a significant improvement over the original Wash it formula, with a new ready-to-use mixture designed to work with Pro-Ject vacuum-based record cleaning machines as well as manual cleaning methods.
Formula and Composition
Wash it 2 is a pre-mixed solution combining demineralised water with cleaning concentrate in an optimum ratio. The formula is entirely alcohol-free, which is an important distinction: alcohol-based cleaners can gradually damage the PVC compound of record surfaces over repeated use. Wash it 2 contains only high-purity components that are 100% eco-friendly, non-toxic, and non-flammable, making it safe for regular use in a home environment.
Cleaning Performance
The fluid dissolves a wide range of impurities including fat, grease, dust, and fingerprints from record grooves. It is also compatible with shellac 78 rpm records in addition to standard vinyl LPs and 45s, making it a versatile cleaning solution for a broad collection. Once applied and cleaned, Wash it 2 evaporates cleanly from the record surface, leaving zero residues that could affect playback or clog a stylus.
Application
Wash it 2 is optimised for use with Pro-Ject Vinyl Cleaner vacuum machines, including the VC-E, VC-E2, VC-S2, and VC-S3 models, and also ensures maximum lifetime of vacuum motors within those machines. It can also be used with a brush-and-rinse manual cleaning method. The optimum application temperature is 20 to 40 degrees Celsius, and the fluid should be stored at 10 to 25 degrees Celsius.
The 250ml bottle is ideal for occasional cleaning use or for those wanting to try the product before committing to a larger quantity. Wash it 2 is also available in 500ml and 1000ml bottles.
