The Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5 E is the successor to the long-running Speaker Box 5, a bookshelf speaker that has been part of Pro-Ject's speaker range for over 15 years. It sits within the entry-level tier of the Speaker Box line-up and is designed primarily to partner Pro-Ject's Box Design hi-fi components, though its 4-ohm nominal impedance and broad 10-140W amplifier power compatibility make it suitable for a wide range of integrated amplifiers.
Driver Configuration
The Speaker Box 5 E is a two-way bass-reflex design, using a 1-inch silk dome tweeter paired with a 5-inch fibreglass bass/midrange driver. The rear-firing port loading contributes to the speaker's bass output, which Pro-Ject describes as fast and tuneful. Sensitivity is 86dB at 1W/1m with a frequency response extending from 68Hz to 20kHz.
Cabinet and Finish
The non-resonating MDF cabinet is finished in a genuine walnut wood veneer. Magnetic speaker grilles are included and can be removed without tools. Gold-plated banana terminals are fitted at the rear, and a wall-mount bracket is available separately. Each speaker weighs 4.04kg and measures 265 x 160 x 198mm (H x W x D).
