The Pro-Ject Pick it PRO is a Moving Magnet phono cartridge developed in collaboration with Ortofon, sitting at the top of the Pro-Ject cartridge range. It shares the same elliptical diamond stylus, generator assembly, and body tolerances as the Balanced sibling, delivering a lively, detailed, and dynamically engaging character from a standard four-pin headshell connection. The black body and clear stylus guard make it a visual standout on any tonearm.
Elliptical Diamond Stylus
Fitted with a polished elliptical diamond stylus with an 8/18 micron tip radius, the Pick it PRO tracks the groove walls accurately and consistently. An elliptical profile contacts more of the groove wall than a spherical tip, recovering higher frequencies with greater precision and reducing groove wear over time. At the recommended tracking force of 2.0 g, the cartridge maintains stable contact across the full audio bandwidth, from 20 Hz to 20 kHz within plus or minus 2 dB.
Standard Output, Universal Compatibility
Unlike the Balanced variant, the Pick it PRO uses a conventional four-conductor connection with a shared shielding and ground pin, making it directly compatible with any phono stage or turntable with a standard MM input. There is no requirement for a balanced phono stage or specialist cabling, so it integrates with a broad range of existing hi-fi systems.
Made in Europe with Ortofon
Pro-Ject partnered with Ortofon, the Danish cartridge specialist, to manufacture the Pick it PRO range to exacting European standards. The generator assembly, stylus profile, and body tolerances reflect Ortofon's precision manufacturing heritage, while Pro-Ject's listening-room fine-tuning process shaped the final voicing.
