The Pro-Ject EVO 10 CC is a 10-inch tonearm from the EVO CC range, sitting above the entry-level EVO AS arms and forming part of Pro-Ject's current generation of premium aftermarket and factory-fit tonearms. The range is available in 9, 10, and 12-inch versions, in two finishes: CC Black and CC HG (High Gloss). The EVO 10 CC is designed to offer a substantial upgrade path for turntable owners seeking improved retrieval, lower noise, and more precise cartridge alignment over budget-specification arms.
Construction
The armtube is a single-piece conical carbon-fibre tube: carbon is chosen for its high stiffness-to-mass ratio, and the conical taper is intended to suppress standing-wave reflections along the tube. The bearing is an inverted cardanic design using ABEC 7-rated stainless steel tips, housed in a full aluminium block. ABEC 7 tolerances represent a high-precision grade, and the inverted cardanic geometry is intended to minimise bearing friction while maintaining the rigidity needed for consistent tracking. The counterweight is TPE-damped to reduce resonances transmitted back through the armtube. Shiny aluminium parts are polished by hand. The outside ring of the bearing housing is open in design to prevent bell-mode resonances.
Adjustment and Setup
The armtube is secured by a single screw, allowing rotation for azimuth adjustment. VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle) is continuously adjustable by loosening two grub screws on the bearing pillar. The silicone-damped armlift can also be adjusted to suit arm height. Cartridge compatibility for the 10-inch version spans 6 to 14 grams, with a tracking force range of 0 to 3 grams. The headshell uses a standard 12.7 mm slot pitch. The gold-plated 5-pin DIN output socket accepts standard tonearm cables. Inner wiring is flexible high-purity copper.
The High Gloss Finish
The HG (High Gloss) version features green-coloured counterweight and accent components, distinguishing it visually from the CC Black version. The carbon armtube and polished aluminium hardware remain consistent across both finishes. The EVO CC range is made in Europe.
