The AudioQuest Pearl is the entry point to AudioQuest's optical TOSLINK cable range, which spans five models from Pearl through Forest, Cinnamon, Carbon, and Vodka. Designed for connecting soundbars, televisions, DACs, Blu-ray players, and A/V components via a standard TOSLINK optical interface, the Pearl uses a polished low-dispersion fibre to reduce timing errors and improve bandwidth compared with generic optical cables.
Fibre and Interface
The Pearl's fibre conductor is specifically selected for low dispersion, a property that governs how much the light signal spreads within the cable over its length. Less dispersion means tighter signal timing, which in a digital audio context translates to reduced jitter in the received signal. The optical interface at each end is finely polished to ensure a clean coupling into the TOSLINK socket, helping to maintain signal integrity at the connection point.
Compatibility
The Pearl uses full-size TOSLINK connectors at both ends and is compatible with the standard optical digital audio interfaces found on televisions, soundbars, DACs, game consoles, AV receivers, and CD players.
