WiiM Ultra Streaming DAC

The WiiM Ultra sits at the top of WiiM's streaming lineup, above the Mini, Pro and Pro Plus. Where those models focus purely on network streaming, the Ultra expands into a full digital hub — combining an ESS ES9038Q2M DAC, a TPA6120A2 headphone amplifier, analogue and digital inputs, and a comprehensive preamplifier stage with room correction in a compact aluminium enclosure.

DAC & Headphone Amplifier

The Ultra's digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by an ESS ES9038Q2M SABRE DAC, supporting PCM streams up to 32-bit/384kHz. The DAC stage delivers a signal-to-noise ratio of 121 dB (A-weighted) on the line outputs, with total harmonic distortion plus noise measured at 0.00018% (−116 dB) at 1 kHz. Maximum line output level is 2.1V RMS.

A dedicated TPA6120A2 headphone amplifier is built in, with its own 3.5mm output protected by a glass cover. The headphone stage achieves 119 dB SNR with THD+N of −99 dB, providing enough performance for demanding headphones without requiring an external amplifier.

Connectivity & Inputs

The Ultra accepts sources from virtually every connection type. Analogue inputs include RCA line-level and a dedicated phono input for turntables. Digital inputs cover optical (TOSLINK), HDMI ARC for television audio, and USB. All wired inputs accept signals up to 24-bit/192kHz.

Network connectivity is provided via Wi-Fi 6E (802.11 b/g/n/ax across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands) or a wired 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port. Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio support is also included. Supported streaming services include Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Chromecast, Roon Ready, DLNA and Squeezelite.

Outputs & Preamplifier

Analogue outputs include stereo RCA and a dedicated subwoofer output with adjustable crossover frequency, level, phase and latency. Digital outputs cover coaxial S/PDIF, optical TOSLINK and USB. A 12V trigger output is provided for automatic amplifier power control.

The preamplifier stage supports independent EQ settings per input source (HDMI, optical, line, phono, Bluetooth and network), with 24 preset EQ curves, a 10-band graphic equaliser and a 10-band parametric equaliser. Built-in room correction measures and compensates for speaker and room acoustics.

Display & Control

A 3.5-inch colour touchscreen under glass dominates the front panel, providing direct control over source selection, volume, EQ settings and playback. A physical volume knob with glass cover and a play/pause button sit alongside. An RGBW LED status indicator shows connection and playback state at a glance. The WiiM Home app provides full remote control, multiroom grouping and access to all streaming services.
