Description
The WiiM Pro sits at the heart of WiiM's streaming lineup, bridging the gap between the entry-level WiiM Mini and the premium WiiM Pro Plus. Where the Mini offers digital output only, the Pro adds analogue RCA input and output alongside a built-in Texas Instruments Burr-Brown PCM5121 DAC, making it a complete streaming front-end for any hi-fi system. For listeners who want the step up to the AKM 4493SEQ DAC and higher SNR figures, the Pro Plus sits above it in the range.
Streaming & Connectivity
The WiiM Pro supports an extensive roster of streaming services and protocols. AirPlay 2, Chromecast Audio, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer and TuneIn are all accessible through the WiiM Home app, with DLNA and UPnP support for local network playback. The unit is also Roon Ready, integrating directly into Roon-based systems.
Wireless connectivity covers dual-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) alongside Bluetooth 5.1 with SBC and AAC codec support. Bluetooth operates as both a receiver and transmitter, allowing the Pro to send audio wirelessly to Bluetooth headphones or speakers. A 100 Mbps Ethernet port provides a wired network option for more stable streaming.
Inputs & Outputs
The rear panel carries a comprehensive set of connections for a unit of this size. On the input side, an RCA analogue line input (1 Vrms, 48 kHz/24-bit) accepts external sources, while an optical SPDIF input handles digital sources at up to 192 kHz/24-bit. For output, the built-in PCM5121 DAC feeds an RCA analogue line output, with digital passthrough available via both optical SPDIF and coaxial outputs at up to 192 kHz/24-bit.
DAC & Audio Performance
The Texas Instruments Burr-Brown PCM5121 is a well-regarded stereo DAC offering a signal-to-noise ratio of 106 dB and total harmonic distortion of 0.005%. It handles high-resolution audio files in all common formats including FLAC, WAV, ALAC, APE, AAC, OGG, WMA and MP3 at resolutions up to 24-bit/192 kHz.
Multiroom & Control
The WiiM Home app provides setup, streaming service management and multiroom grouping with other WiiM devices. Touch-sensitive controls on the front panel handle basic playback functions, and the unit is compatible with Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant for voice control. Power is supplied via a DC 5V/2A adapter.
