The WiiM Ground Pin Adapter is an official accessory for the WiiM Amp Ultra streaming amplifier. It attaches to the dedicated chassis ground terminal on the Amp Ultra's rear panel and provides a grounded connection point to external equipment, breaking any ground loop that may form between the amplifier and a connected source component or television.
Why a Ground Loop Forms
A ground loop occurs when two pieces of audio equipment share a common earth path through their mains connections but at slightly different potentials, causing a small current to flow through the interconnect cables. This current manifests as an audible mains hum, typically at 50 Hz and its harmonics, from the speakers. The effect is most common when mixing equipment powered from different mains outlets, or when combining audio and video components that each have their own mains earth.
How the Adapter Solves It
The WiiM Amp Ultra features a chassis ground point on its rear panel for precisely this purpose. The Ground Pin Adapter connects to this point and provides a grounding path that lifts the floating earth, equalising the potential between the amplifier's chassis and the connected equipment without interrupting the signal path. The result is clean, silent operation with no residual hum.
