Description

The WiiM Amp sits at the heart of WiiM's range of streaming components, combining a Class D power amplifier with a full-featured network streaming platform in a compact, aluminium-clad chassis. Where the WiiM Pro and Pro Plus are line-level streamers requiring a separate amplifier, the WiiM Amp drives passive speakers directly — making it a complete hi-fi system in a single box. The result is a genuinely versatile proposition: a serious streaming amplifier that works equally well as a TV sound upgrade, a music system, or the central node of a multiroom installation.

Amplification

Power comes from a Texas Instruments TPA3255 Class D amplifier, delivering 60 watts per channel into 8 ohm loads. Drop the speaker impedance to 4 ohms and output climbs to 120 watts per channel — enough headroom for large rooms and demanding speakers alike. A dedicated subwoofer output enables integration with an active subwoofer for bass extension.

Streaming & Connectivity

The WiiM Amp supports an extensive range of streaming protocols: AirPlay 2 for Apple devices, Chromecast Audio for Android, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer, Qobuz, SoundCloud, TuneIn, Napster, and internet radio. DLNA compliance means music stored on a NAS drive or home server is accessible without additional software. Two-way Bluetooth allows wireless playback from smartphones and tablets, and also enables output to Bluetooth headphones for private listening.

Physical inputs include an HDMI ARC port for TV connection — turning the WiiM Amp into a speaker-based TV sound system — alongside an optical digital input, a single RCA analogue input, and a USB-A port for local media playback. The WiiM Home app provides setup, source switching, EQ adjustment, and multiroom grouping with other WiiM devices on the same network.

Sound Shaping

The WiiM Home app offers substantial equalisation capability: 24 preset EQ profiles, a 10-band graphic EQ configurable per source input, and a 4-band parametric EQ for room-specific fine-tuning. High-resolution audio is supported across FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, WAV, and APE formats, alongside standard formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WMA.

Design & Build

The WiiM Amp adopts the same squared-off aluminium aesthetic as other WiiM components, with a brushed Space Grey finish and a central volume/control knob on the front panel. Dimensions are 190 × 63 × 190mm and weight is 1.8kg. A remote control is included. The box also contains an HDMI cable, RCA analogue interconnect, and optical digital cable to connect three source devices straight out of the box.
