WiiM Amp
The WiiM Amp is a compact Class D streaming amplifier housed in an anodised aluminium chassis. It delivers 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms, or 120 watts per channel into 4 ohms, powered by a Texas Instruments TPA3255 amplifier chip. At its heart sits an ESS Sabre DAC capable of resolving audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz, with a measured THD+N of just 0.0025% and a signal-to-noise ratio of 98 dB.
Streaming is built in via AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Alexa Cast, DLNA, and Roon Ready support. Dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth 5.1 handle wireless connectivity, while a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port is provided for a wired connection. Physical inputs include HDMI ARC for TV audio, an optical digital input, and a stereo line input. A subwoofer output with adjustable 30-350 Hz crossover lets you add a powered subwoofer later. Control is via the WiiM Home app, or via the included voice remote.
Klipsch R-40M Bookshelf Speakers
The Klipsch R-40M belongs to the Reference series and is a compact two-way bass-reflex design. Its aluminium Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) tweeter is mounted behind a 90-degree Tractrix horn for wide sound dispersion with low distortion. A 4-inch spun-copper TCP woofer handles bass and midrange duties, loaded into a rear-ported cabinet. With a sensitivity of 91 dB, the R-40M is an efficient match for the WiiM Amp, requiring only modest power to reach room-filling levels.
A Complete System
Connect the Klipsch R-40M speakers to the WiiM Amp speaker terminals, run an Ethernet cable or connect to Wi-Fi via the WiiM Home app, and you have a fully operational streaming system. The WiiM Amp's HDMI ARC port also allows the same speakers to serve as a TV audio upgrade, bringing stereo Hi-Res audio to films and TV programmes.
