The Wharfedale Evo 5.4 HCP is a 5.1 home cinema speaker package built around the Evo 5 series, pairing the Evo 5.4 three-way floorstanding speakers as front channels with Evo 5.2 three-way bookshelf surrounds, the Evo 5.C centre speaker and the Wharfedale SW-12 active subwoofer. All four Evo 5 cabinets share the same 35x70mm Air Motion Transformer tweeter and black woven Kevlar bass drivers, giving consistent tonal character across every channel. The Evo 5.4 HCP sits at the top of the Evo 5 home cinema range and uses the largest floorstander in the series, with twin 165mm Kevlar bass drivers per front cabinet for greater dynamic headroom and lower bass extension.
Front Channels: Evo 5.4 Floorstanding (Pair)
The Evo 5.4 is a three-way floorstanding design with a 35x70mm AMT tweeter, a 50mm soft-dome midrange driver and twin 165mm black woven Kevlar bass drivers in a bass-reflex cabinet. Sensitivity is 90dB (2.83V/1m) and nominal impedance is 4 Ohm (8 Ohm compatible), with a frequency response of 42Hz to 24kHz and bass extension to 36Hz (-6dB). Recommended amplifier power is 30 to 200W. Each cabinet stands 1028mm tall on its plinth and weighs 31.2kg.
Surround Channels: Evo 5.2 Bookshelf (Pair)
The Evo 5.2 is a three-way standmount speaker using the same 35x70mm AMT tweeter, a 50mm soft-dome midrange driver and a single 165mm Kevlar bass driver in a bass-reflex cabinet. With 88dB sensitivity and a frequency response of 44Hz to 24kHz it delivers consistent tonal character with the front channels. Power handling is 25 to 120W. Each cabinet weighs 15.0kg and measures 497mm tall on its plinth.
Centre Channel: Evo 5.C
The Evo 5.C is a two-way centre using twin 130mm Kevlar bass drivers flanking the 35x70mm AMT tweeter in a wide horizontal cabinet, optimised for dialogue clarity. Sensitivity is 89dB (2.83V/1m) with a frequency response of 56Hz to 24kHz and power handling of 25 to 120W. The cabinet measures 188mm tall by 520mm wide and weighs 12.5kg.
Subwoofer: SW-12 Active
The SW-12 is a 12-inch (300mm) active subwoofer with a 300W continuous (450W peak) Class A/B amplifier and a crossover variable from 30 to 150Hz. Maximum output is 118dB at one metre and frequency response covers 35Hz to 120Hz. Inputs include stereo line in (two RCA) and a dedicated LFE input. The SW-12 is supplied in Black regardless of the package finish colour.
Shared Technology
All Evo 5 speakers use Wharfedale's evolved 35x70mm AMT tweeter with SilentWeave sound-absorbing material behind the diaphragm to suppress internal reflections, and a revised three-directional slot-loaded profiled port (SLPP) for the bass loading. The matched front, centre and surround channels are designed to work together as a coherent system, with the front floorstanders capable of full-range stereo performance when the SW-12 is muted or removed from the chain.
