Solid Steel SS-7 Speaker Stands (Black) (Pair)

The Solid Steel SS-7 is the tallest model in the SS Series — Solid Steel’s flagship speaker stand range, first designed in 1992 and still hand-built in Italy using the same brass-welding techniques. Sitting above the SS-5 and SS-6, the SS-7 provides the greatest height for listeners who need their bookshelf or monitor speakers positioned at ear level from a standard seated position. The three models share the same tripod geometry, materials, and load capacity, differing in overall height and, in the case of the SS-5, top plate size.

Construction

Each stand is built around a three-leg steel frame, entirely hand-welded with brass using acetylene and oxygen. The process takes approximately 15 minutes per unit and is carried out by skilled craftsmen. The triangular base is connected by crimped steel bars, and the frame terminates in adjustable stainless steel spikes with protective floor discs included. The uprights are hollow and fillable with damping material (not supplied), allowing owners to tune the stands’ resonant behaviour to suit their loudspeakers and room.

Decoupling System

The top plate is mechanically decoupled from the frame via three precision steel ball bearings. This isolates the loudspeaker from structural vibration transmitted through the stand. The top plate itself is made from MDF with a hand-painted lacquer finish, and is interchangeable to accommodate different loudspeaker footprints. Pata-fix adhesive is supplied to secure the loudspeaker to the top plate without permanent bonding.

Compatibility

The SS-7 supports a maximum load of 40 kg per stand, making it suitable for the majority of bookshelf and monitor loudspeakers on the market. The 160 × 160 mm top plate accommodates most compact loudspeaker bases. Sold as a pair.
