Solid Steel SS-6 Speaker Stands (White) (Pair)

The Solid Steel SS-6 is the mid-sized model in Solidsteel's iconic SS series of speaker stands, sitting between the shorter SS-5 and the taller SS-7. Designed and handcrafted in Italy since 1990, the SS series has set the standard for monitor-type loudspeaker support among audiophiles and recording professionals. The SS-6 stands 635mm tall, positioning bookshelf and standmount speakers at an optimal listening height for most seated positions.

Construction & Materials

The tripod frame is entirely hand-welded with brass by skilled craftsmen, with each unit requiring approximately 15 minutes to assemble from pre-finished components. The three-leg design provides inherent structural stability and anti-resonance behaviour that conventional four-post stands cannot match. Three stainless steel tubular supports connect the base plate to the top plate assembly, with crimped steel bars reinforcing the triangular geometry.

Decoupling & Isolation

Mechanical decoupling between the frame and the interchangeable MDF top plate is achieved via three precision stainless steel ball bearings. This isolates the speaker from the stand structure, preventing vibrational energy from feeding back into the cabinet. The lacquered MDF top plate includes a rubber O-ring for additional damping at the interface, and speakers are secured using the included Pata-fix adhesive pads.

Height-adjustable stainless steel spikes at the base couple the stand firmly to the floor. The spikes are removable, which allows the tubular frame legs to be filled with damping material such as sand or lead shot for enhanced mass loading and further vibration control. Protective floor discs are included to prevent damage to hard flooring surfaces.

Top Plate Options

The standard top plate measures 160 × 160mm, suitable for a wide range of bookshelf and monitor speakers. A larger 190 × 190mm custom top plate option is available for speakers with a wider footprint. The interchangeable design means the top plate can be swapped without tools, allowing optimisation for different loudspeaker models over time.
