Solid Steel S5-5 Hi-Fi Rack (White)

The Solid Steel S5-5 is the largest rack in the S5 series, offering five shelves for comprehensive hi-fi system support. Sitting above the S5-2, S5-3, and S5-4 in the range, the S5-5 provides the maximum shelf count within the S5 platform, making it the natural choice for multi-component systems that demand dedicated isolation for each source, amplifier, and accessory.

Construction & Materials

The S5 series employs a two-level decoupled shelf design developed at Solidsteel’s headquarters in Città Sant’Angelo, Italy. The primary shelves are constructed from ennobled MDF with a polymer laminate finish, featuring perforated central areas reinforced by embedded steel elements. Secondary shelves mount on engineered steel cones, creating a decoupled isolation system that channels vibrations away from the equipment.

The four aluminium support tubes are internally filled with StratoCell sound-absorbing foam — a non-granular damping material that attenuates resonance within the frame itself. Each tube connects via a robust fastening system that allows precise height adjustment, giving full control over shelf spacing to accommodate components of varying heights.

Isolation & Vibration Control

The rack stands on four adjustable stainless steel spikes, which sit on S Series Pads — machined steel floor discs that protect surfaces whilst directing accumulated vibrations toward the ground. This three-stage approach (decoupled shelves, foam-damped tubes, spike-to-pad grounding) addresses vibration at every point in the structure.

Practical Details

Each of the four equipment shelves provides 185 mm of inner clearance, with an X Plate shelf surface measuring 450 × 405 mm. The overall footprint is 584 mm wide × 430 mm deep, with a total height of 1085 mm including spikes. Every shelf supports a maximum load of 55 kg, and the modular construction means additional shelves or starter kits can be added to expand the system over time.
