Solid Steel S4-3 Hi-Fi Rack (Black)

The Solid Steel S4-3 is a three-shelf hi-fi rack from the S4 series, sitting above the two-shelf S4-2 in the range and below the four-shelf S4-4. Part of Solid Steel's regular catalogue alongside the narrower S2 and S3 lines, the S4 series provides a broader platform — 1114 mm wide — suited to larger amplifiers, AV receivers, and wide-chassis equipment that needs more lateral clearance than the standard-width models offer.

Construction & Vibration Control

The S4-3 is built around four aluminium columns, anodised and painted, each filled with StratoCell sound-absorbing foam. This internal damping material dissipates resonance energy within the column structure rather than transmitting it between shelves. The three shelves are made from MDF with a durable polymer laminate finish, and each is fitted with ABS plastic protective discs to prevent equipment casework from being scratched during placement.

All hardware is stainless steel, while the upper and lower terminations use iron treated with zinc to prevent corrosion. The rack sits on adjustable stainless steel spikes, supplied with protective floor discs to avoid marking hardwood or tiled floors.

Capacity & Dimensions

Each shelf supports a maximum load of 110 kg, giving the S4-3 a combined capacity of 330 kg across its three levels. The overall footprint is 1114 mm wide by 430 mm deep, with an overall height of 670 mm. Inner shelf dimensions are 500 mm wide by 430 mm deep, with 245 mm of vertical clearance between each pair of shelves — sufficient for most full-width hi-fi separates and AV components.

The S4-3 weighs 37 kg assembled, providing the mass and stability required to support a full stack of heavy equipment without rocking. For systems requiring fewer shelves, the S4-2 offers a two-shelf configuration; the S4-4 adds a fourth shelf for larger installations.
