Solid Steel S4-2 Hi-Fi Rack (White)

The Solid Steel S4-2 is a two-shelf hi-fi rack from the S4 series, designed to offer wider support than the standard S3 line while maintaining the same vertical spacing characteristics. Part of Solid Steel’s regular range, the S4 series sits alongside the narrower S2 and S3 models, providing a broader platform suited to larger amplifiers, AV receivers, and wider-chassis components that need more lateral clearance.

Construction & Vibration Control

The S4-2 is built around four aluminium columns, anodised and painted, each filled with StratoCell sound-absorbing foam. This internal damping material dissipates resonance energy within the column structure rather than transmitting it between shelves. The two shelves are made from MDF with a durable polymer laminate finish, and each is fitted with ABS plastic protective discs to prevent equipment casework from being scratched during placement.

All hardware is stainless steel, while the upper and lower terminations use iron treated with zinc to prevent corrosion. The rack sits on adjustable spikes, supplied with protective floor discs to avoid marking hardwood or tiled floors.

Capacity & Dimensions

Each shelf supports a maximum load of 110 kg, giving the S4-2 a combined capacity of 220 kg across both levels. The overall footprint is 1114 mm wide by 430 mm deep, with an overall height of 475 mm. Inner shelf dimensions are 500 mm wide by 430 mm deep, with 325 mm of vertical clearance between shelves — enough to accommodate most full-width hi-fi separates and AV components comfortably.

The S4-2 weighs 28 kg assembled, giving it sufficient mass and stability to support heavy equipment without rocking or shifting. For systems requiring more shelving, the S4-3 and S4-4 models in the same series offer three and four shelf configurations respectively.
