The Solid Steel HP-2 sits within Solidsteel's Hyperspike Prestige Series — the Italian manufacturer's flagship range of ceramic audio racks. Where Solidsteel's other ranges such as the S-Series and HF-Series use MDF shelves with polymer laminate or lacquered finishes, the HP-Series introduces premium ceramic slab construction for superior vibration damping and rigidity. The HP-2 is the two-shelf model, designed for compact high-end systems where a single source component and amplifier need the best possible mechanical isolation.
Ceramic Shelf Construction
Each shelf comprises a ceramic slab bonded to a core of medium/high-density polyurethane foam, finished with high-quality resin edges. The ceramic surface is scratch-proof and available in two marble-effect finishes: Calacatta White (Natural) and Atlantic Black (Slate Black). The foam core provides internal damping that absorbs resonance before it can reach the equipment above. This hybrid construction combines the mass and inertness of ceramic with the energy-dissipating properties of foam — a fundamentally different approach to the MDF shelves used elsewhere in the range.
Stainless Steel Hyperspike Frame
The frame is built entirely from 39mm-diameter stainless steel (INOX) tubing, liquid-painted in either a Brass or Copper finish. Solidsteel's Hyperspike system uses precision-turned stainless steel spikes at each shelf junction, decoupling each level mechanically. Between the spikes and the shelves, 3D-printed recyclable rubber isolation discs provide a further layer of vibration control, preventing energy transfer between the frame and the ceramic surfaces.
Practical Design
The HP-2 provides two shelves with a clearance of 315mm between levels, accommodating standard-height hi-fi separates. Each shelf supports up to 100 kg, with testing verified to 120 kg. The modular Hyperspike design allows future expansion — additional shelf modules can be added without compromising the mechanical integrity of the rack. The entire HP-Series is 100% made in Italy.
