Solid Steel HF-3 Hi-Fi Rack (Gloss Black)

The Solid Steel HF-3 is a three-shelf hi-fi rack from the Italian manufacturer’s flagship Hyperspike line — a range that has served as a reference in high-end audio furniture since the early 2000s. Sitting between the two-shelf HF-2 and the four-shelf HF-4, the HF-3 provides three tiers of component support in a footprint of 645×561 mm, making it well suited to systems comprising a source, amplifier, and one additional component.

Construction

The frame is built around four 40 mm-diameter pillars machined entirely from solid stainless steel (INOX), giving the structure both rigidity and a distinctive polished finish. Each pillar is assembled from individually turned sections, and the modular design allows shelf heights to be adjusted between 145 mm and 365 mm to accommodate components of varying depth. The three 30 mm-thick shelves are made from high-density MDF with a lacquered gloss black finish, and each is rated to support up to 80 kg.

Vibration Control

The Hyperspike system is central to the HF series’ design. Each foot comprises a precision-machined stainless steel spike with an adjustable locking screw, paired with a protective floor disc. Rubber O-rings are fitted between pillar sections, functioning in a similar manner to piston rings: they improve the mechanical fit between components while reducing the transmission of vibrational energy through the frame. The combination of mass-loaded steel construction and these decoupling elements is intended to isolate sensitive hi-fi electronics from both floor-borne and airborne vibration.

Shelf Clearances

The HF-3 offers a lower clearance of 305 mm (12″) between the base shelf and the middle tier, and an upper clearance of 205 mm (8″) between the middle and top shelves. The lower bay comfortably accommodates full-width amplifiers and AV components, while the upper bay suits lower-profile sources such as streamers, DACs, and CD players.
