Description
The Roksan Attessa 1G CD Transport is a dedicated disc transport designed for listeners who want to pair a high-quality CD source with their own DAC (digital-to-analogue converter) or DAC-equipped amplifier.
Key features
- Pure transport, no internal DAC: keeps the signal path short from the laser to the digital output, minimising jitter and letting your external DAC handle conversion on its own terms.
- S/PDIF coaxial digital output (16-bit / 44.1 kHz): a single, clean connection to your DAC or amplifier via the included coaxial cable.
- MaestroUnite integration: when paired with a Roksan Attessa Streaming Amplifier, the transport joins a unified ecosystem controllable through the BluOS app, including over-the-air firmware updates.
- Machined aluminium front panel with OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display: clear track information at a glance, housed in a formed plated-steel chassis available in Black or Silver.
- 5-year warranty: long-term confidence from Roksan.
Overview
Roksan's approach with the Attessa 1G CD Transport is straightforward: do one job well. Rather than bundling in a DAC that may duplicate what your amplifier already provides, the Attessa focuses entirely on reading the disc and delivering a clean digital signal. Custom firmware is built specifically for this platform, optimised for Red Book (standard CD) playback from CD and CD-R discs.
Build quality is solid without being ostentatious. The bespoke machined anodised aluminium front panel sits on a formed plated-steel chassis, and at 6.1 kg it has enough heft to feel well-built and stable. Front-panel controls cover the essentials (standby, eject, track skip, play/pause), and an IR (infrared) remote is included for listening-position control.
Where the Attessa becomes particularly compelling is within a wider Roksan system. MaestroUnite technology and Bluetooth Low Energy allow the transport to integrate with Attessa amplifiers for unified app control, device discovery, and firmware updates. Used standalone, it is a focused, well-built transport; within the Attessa ecosystem, it becomes part of a cohesive, app-controlled system.
An auto-standby feature activates after approximately 20 minutes of inactivity, which is worth noting if you tend to leave the system idle. When stacking with an Attessa amplifier, Roksan recommends placing the amplifier on top.
