The Roksan Attessa CD Transport is a dedicated disc transport — it reads CDs and delivers a raw digital bitstream via its S/PDIF coaxial output, but contains no internal DAC. All analogue conversion is handled downstream by the amplifier or external DAC of your choice, keeping the signal path as short and uncoloured as possible. As the entry point to Roksan's Attessa range, it is engineered to the same dimensional and aesthetic standard as the matching Attessa Integrated Amplifier, making it an ideal pairing for those who want a coherent, purpose-built system.

Transport Mechanism

The Attessa CD Transport accepts standard Red-Book CD and CD-R discs. Roksan's design philosophy centres on minimising the distance between the laser pickup and the output stage, reducing jitter introduced by a lengthy internal signal path. The drive operates quickly and smoothly, and front-panel controls — standby, eject, previous track, play/pause, and next track — are complemented by an included IR remote control. A Bluetooth Low Energy module handles power management functions, while Wi-Fi connectivity enables over-the-air firmware updates through Roksan's MaestroUnite app.

Digital Outputs

A single S/PDIF coaxial (RCA) output carries the 16-bit/44.1 kHz Red-Book signal to a compatible DAC or digital input. There is no optical (TOSLINK), AES/EBU, or BNC output — the coaxial connection is the sole digital interface. Roksan supplies a connecting cable in the box to pair the transport with an Attessa Integrated Amplifier. Because there is no onboard DAC, no analogue RCA outputs are present.

Build Quality

The chassis is constructed from formed, plated steel, providing a rigid, resonance-dampening enclosure. The front panel is a bespoke piece of machined, anodised aluminium, giving the unit a premium feel that belies its price point. The Attessa CD Transport shares its 432 mm width and 76 mm height with the rest of the Attessa line, allowing units to be stacked neatly — Roksan recommends placing the transport beneath the amplifier to allow adequate ventilation.
