QED XT3 Power Cable 3m

The QED XT3 sits at the entry point of QED’s dedicated power cable range, bringing the same X-Tube™ technology found in the company’s acclaimed speaker cables to mains power delivery. Above it in the range is the XT5, which uses a larger 2.5mm² cross-section for higher-current applications. Designed and engineered in the United Kingdom, the XT3 is a fully type-tested audiophile power cable intended to complement QED’s award-winning speaker cables and audio interconnects.

X-Tube™ Technology

At the heart of the XT3 is QED’s proprietary X-Tube™ conductor geometry, adapted specifically for power cable applications. The braided individual cores in the live and neutral conductors are made small enough that they are not affected by the eddy currents from adjacent cores. A carefully calculated twist rate ensures that no two conductors remain next to each other in the parallel configuration for more than a few millimetres, reducing distortion caused by modulation of the cable’s impedance.

Construction

The XT3 uses 99.999% oxygen-free copper (OFC) conductors with a cross-sectional area of 1.5mm². Each conductor bundle is individually insulated using K130 PVC, which controls cable capacitance and provides the electrical isolation demanded by international safety standards. A hollow LDPE (low-density polyethylene) core at the centre of each conductor controls cable inductance. Despite its audiophile construction, the XT3 maintains a slim 10.2mm outer diameter, making it flexible and easy to route behind equipment.

Termination

The UK version is fitted with an MK Tough Plug 655 at the mains end and an IEC C13 794 connector at the equipment end. The cable is fully type-tested and complies with EN 50525, EN 60320, and EN 60884 international safety standards, with a dielectric strength rating of 2kV AC for 15 minutes.
