The Q Acoustics Concept 50 5.1 Cinema Pack brings together four models from the Concept range to create a complete home cinema system. Sitting at the top of Q Acoustics' speaker line-up, the Concept series represents the brand's most advanced engineering, combining proprietary cabinet technologies with ground-up driver design. This pack pairs Concept 50 floorstanding speakers at the front with Concept 30 standmount speakers as surrounds, a Concept 90 dedicated centre channel, and the Q SUB120 active subwoofer for low-frequency effects.
Cabinet Technology
Every speaker in the Concept range uses Q Acoustics' Gelcore™ cabinet construction — a non-setting gel layer sandwiched between cabinet panels that dissipates high-frequency vibrations generated by the moving drivers, converting them into heat. This is paired with P2P™ (Point to Point) internal bracing, where reinforcement is applied to interior surfaces using finite element analysis and laser interferometry to stiffen the cabinet and minimise lower-frequency vibrations. The result is a notably quiet enclosure that allows the drivers to operate with minimal cabinet colouration.
Concept 50 — Front Channels
The Concept 50 floorstanding speakers handle the front left and right channels. Each cabinet houses two 125mm bass drivers and a 25mm tweeter with a hermetically sealed, mechanically isolated enclosure that floats independently of the front baffle. A 30.5mm voice coil on the mid/bass drivers delivers a 50% increase in power handling over comparable 25.4mm designs. The floorstanding enclosure incorporates HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser) tubes that reduce internal pressure and standing waves, while the Isolation Suspension system — two plates separated by suspension spheres — decouples the cabinet from the surface beneath it, improving stereo imaging and bass extension. Frequency response extends down to 42Hz (−6dB) with 90.5dB sensitivity.
Concept 30 — Surround Channels
The Concept 30 standmount speakers serve as rear surrounds. Each uses a single 125mm bass driver and 25mm tweeter in a compact Gelcore cabinet with P2P bracing and an isolation suspension base. At 284 × 180 × 319mm per speaker, they are designed to integrate easily into a room without dominating. Sensitivity is 87dB with frequency response from 54Hz (−6dB), and the crossover is set at 2.4kHz.
Concept 90 — Centre Channel
The Concept 90 centre channel uses the same driver complement as the Concept 50 — two 125mm bass units and a 25mm tweeter — in a horizontal enclosure with Gelcore construction and an isolation suspension base. This shared driver architecture ensures consistent timbre across the front soundstage. Sensitivity is 90dB with a 2.1kHz crossover, and the recommended amplifier power range matches the Concept 50 at 25–150W.
Q SUB120 — Subwoofer
The Q SUB120 provides the low-frequency foundation with a 305mm (12-inch) driver in a sealed infinite-baffle enclosure. A 300W continuous (600W peak) Class D amplifier drives the system to a maximum SPL of 114dB at 1m, with frequency response reaching down to 28Hz (−6dB). The 50mm voice coil incorporates an aluminium demodulation ring, and total harmonic distortion at rated power is just 0.09%. Digital signal processing automatically adjusts system gain for the connected source, while a variable low-pass crossover (40–250Hz) and phase inversion switch allow precise integration with the satellite speakers. The 18mm high-density MDF cabinet features a 36mm double-thickness baffle for rigidity.
