The Q Acoustics Concept 50 5.1 Cinema Pack represents the flagship home cinema offering within the Concept range — Q Acoustics’ most advanced loudspeaker series, positioned above the 5000 and 3000 families. Built around the award-winning Concept 50 floorstanding speaker, the pack brings together five acoustically matched loudspeakers and a high-output powered subwoofer to deliver a complete, cohesive surround sound system. Every component in the pack shares the same cabinet technologies and driver philosophies, ensuring consistent tonal character across all channels.
The pack comprises six items: a pair of Concept 50 floorstanding speakers (front left and right), one Concept 90 centre channel speaker, a pair of Concept 30 standmount speakers (rear surrounds), and one Q SUB120 active subwoofer. All passive speakers feature bi-wire terminals and are finished in Gloss Black throughout.
All three passive speaker models share Q Acoustics’ suite of proprietary cabinet technologies developed specifically for the Concept range. Gelcore™ construction uses a non-setting gel sandwiched between two cabinet layers to convert high-frequency vibrational energy into heat rather than allowing it to radiate as colouration. P2P™ (Point to Point) internal bracing adds structural reinforcement at locations most susceptible to low-frequency resonance, increasing cabinet rigidity without adding unnecessary mass. An Isolation Suspension System — a sprung base fitted with suspension spheres — mechanically decouples the cabinet from the floor or surface it rests on, reducing external vibration pickup and improving imaging precision. The Concept 50 floorstander additionally incorporates HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser) tubes within its tower enclosure; these convert pressure waves to velocity, eliminating internal standing waves that would otherwise degrade bass clarity.
The Concept 50 and Concept 90 each use a pair of 125 mm mid/bass drivers alongside a 25 mm tweeter, while the Concept 30 uses a single 125 mm mid/bass driver with the same 25 mm tweeter. All mid/bass drivers feature a 30.5 mm voice coil — 20% larger in diameter than a standard 25.4 mm coil — which increases the conductor surface area within the magnetic gap and substantially raises power-handling capacity. Drivers are mounted to an aluminium front baffle via pre-tensioned studs, ensuring a consistent and acoustically inert seal. The tweeter is hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated from the front baffle in a floating arrangement, preventing resonance from the mid/bass section from reaching the tweeter enclosure. The crossover network in all three models is mounted on the isolation base rather than inside the main cabinet, minimising microphonic pickup from cabinet vibrations and reducing interference from the drivers’ electromagnetic fields.
The Q SUB120 is a sealed-box (infinite baffle) active subwoofer built around a 305 mm (12-inch) long-throw bass unit with a 50 mm aluminium voice coil and demodulation ring. The sealed design prioritises low distortion and controlled bass decay over maximum extension, producing a 28 Hz to 250 Hz (−6 dB) frequency range with a THD of just 0.09% at rated power. Four digital amplifier stages operate in a parallel bridge-tied load configuration, delivering 300 W continuous and 600 W peak, with a maximum SPL of 114 dB at 1 m. The 18 mm high-density MDF cabinet uses a 36 mm double-thickness front baffle and dart internal bracing to resist the mechanical forces generated at high output. An adjustable low-pass crossover (40–250 Hz) with DSP-controlled phase inversion and delay adjustment allows precise integration with any combination of passive speakers.
