The KEF Ci3160REF-M THX is a world-class in-wall loudspeaker from KEF's Ci-Reference architectural range, designed and handcrafted at KEF's factory in Maidstone, UK. It achieves one of the highest THX performance ratings available -- THX Certified Ultra -- making it ideally suited to large home cinema rooms and living spaces where uncompromising sonic performance is required.
At the heart of the Ci3160REF-M THX is KEF's 12th generation Uni-Q driver array, incorporating Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT). The Uni-Q places the high-frequency driver at the acoustic centre of the midrange cone, acting as a single point source to enlarge the listening sweet spot and disperse sound more evenly across the room. MAT absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter, eliminating coloration and distortion at source.
The three-way design uses dual 160mm (6.5in.) bass drivers powered by a massive, vented motor system engineered specifically for in-wall installation. This delivers clean, rich, highly articulate bass down to 35Hz, bringing genuine full-range performance to a flush-mounted format. The 125mm (5in.) Uni-Q midrange and 25mm (1in.) vented aluminium dome tweeter with MAT complete the driver complement, covering a frequency response of 40Hz to 28kHz (+-6dB).
The 11mm thick precision-machined aluminium baffle eliminates vibration and provides a stable platform for the drive units to perform at their best. The Ci3160REF-M THX is supplied with a paintable magnetic metal grille that blends seamlessly into any wall surface, and a black cloth grille is available as an optional accessory. The speaker ships in an Aluminium Black/Grey finish with a hairline-finished aluminium baffle in black and the Uni-Q array in grey.
With a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, sensitivity of 89dB, and support for amplifier power from 50W to 350W, the Ci3160REF-M THX is designed for use with high-quality AV processors and power amplifiers. A recommended high-pass filter of 35Hz to 80Hz is advised for optimal system integration.
