What's Included
The set comprises three complementary accessories: the Cork it record mat, the Damp it TPE isolation feet and the Record Puck E record stabiliser.
Cork it Record Mat
Cork is a natural material with excellent resonance-damping properties. Unlike conventional felt mats, a cork mat reduces static build-up, helping to keep dust away from the playing surface. It provides a firm, even contact between the vinyl and the platter, and its natural conductivity prevents the static charge that felt mats can accumulate.
Damp it Isolation Feet
Damp it feet are made from a soft TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) compound and are designed to sit beneath the turntable in place of, or in addition to, the original feet. They effectively absorb mechanical vibration transmitted through furniture, floors and nearby speakers. Pro-Ject claim that the Damp it feet allow playback levels up to 30% higher before acoustic feedback becomes a problem, making them a worthwhile upgrade in any listening room.
Record Puck E
The Record Puck E is a lightweight aluminium record stabiliser weighing 190 g. It sits on the spindle over the playing record, using its mass to couple the vinyl more firmly to the platter surface. This reduces unwanted resonances and can audibly improve timing and soundstage depth. A felt pad on the underside protects the record label. The Puck E is available in black or polished silver to suit different turntable aesthetics. Note: the combined height of the spindle and record must not exceed 10.5 mm when the puck is in use.
Compatibility
The Upgrade Set Basic is compatible with the vast majority of belt-drive and direct-drive turntables from any manufacturer. It is particularly well suited to entry-level and mid-range Pro-Ject decks and provides an affordable route to improved sound quality without the need to change the cartridge or tonearm.
