The Pro-Ject T1 is the first model in the T-Line series, designed to deliver true high-fidelity vinyl playback at an accessible price point. Sitting below the T1 Phono SB (which adds a built-in phono stage and electronic speed change) and the T1 Evo (which upgrades the platter and cartridge), the standard T1 provides the essential audiophile turntable experience with no unnecessary complexity.
Construction
The plinth is precision CNC-machined from a single piece with no plastic parts and no hollow spaces inside, minimising unwanted vibrations within the chassis. Three finish options are available: High-Gloss Black, Satin White, and Walnut veneer. The heavy 8mm blasted-glass platter sits on a felt mat and is driven by a precision belt system attached to a newly designed anti-resonant sub-platter. This sub-platter mounts into the main bearing with a hardened stainless-steel axle and brass bushing, toleranced to 0.001mm — the same bearing design used in Pro-Ject’s Essential III turntables.
Tonearm & Cartridge
The 8.6-inch tonearm is a new one-piece aluminium design with an integrated headshell, eliminating the additional resonances that can be introduced by detachable or glued-on headshells. Low-friction gimbal bearings ensure accurate tracking across the record surface. The tonearm comes factory-fitted with an Ortofon OM 5E moving magnet cartridge featuring an elliptical diamond stylus, with tracking force pre-adjusted to 17.5 mN so the turntable plays straight out of the box.
Connectivity & Accessories
The T1 outputs a phono-level signal via Pro-Ject’s own shielded, semi-symmetrical, low-capacitance phono cables — purpose-designed rather than off-the-shelf RCA cables. A separate phono stage or phono input on an amplifier is required. The turntable includes a detachable dust cover with adjustable hinges and vibration-absorbing feet. Speed is changed manually between 33 and 45 RPM by moving the belt on the motor pulley.
