The Pro-Ject Stereo Box DS3 sits within Pro-Ject's Box Design range of compact hi-fi separates, offering a fully featured integrated amplifier in a chassis barely larger than a paperback book. Despite its diminutive footprint, the DS3 delivers 2 x 150 watts into 4 ohms (80 watts into 8 ohms) from its Class D amplification stage, making it capable of driving a wide variety of loudspeakers with authority.
Versatile Connectivity
Five inputs cover analogue and wireless sources comprehensively. The built-in phono stage supports both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges, with 40dB and 60dB gain respectively, switchable via a rear-panel toggle. Three line-level RCA inputs accommodate a CD player, tuner, or any other source component, while Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX and aptX HD codec support enables high-quality wireless streaming from phones and tablets.
Outputs & Headphone Listening
Gold-plated speaker terminals accept 4mm banana plugs, spades, or bare wire. A variable RCA output allows connection of a subwoofer or additional power amplifier, while a fixed RCA output passes the signal at a constant level regardless of volume position — useful for feeding a recording device or a second zone. The front-panel headphone output delivers 2 x 450mW into 32 ohms for private listening.
Build & Design
The entire amplifier is housed in a machined full-aluminium case that provides both structural rigidity and effective electromagnetic shielding. The motor-driven analogue volume potentiometer can be operated from the front panel or via the included remote control, which also handles input selection. Trigger in/out connections enable integration with other Pro-Ject components for automatic power-on sequencing. Optional magnetic wooden side panels are available separately to customise the appearance.
Designed and handmade in Europe, the Stereo Box DS3 is available in black or silver finishes.
