How It Works
A record puck sits over the centre of the record while it plays, holding the disc firmly against the platter. Pro-Ject states that sound can be significantly improved when unwanted resonances between the record and the platter are reduced, and that is exactly what the Signature Record Puck is designed to do. It ensures a firm fit of the record, reduces unwanted vibrations and optimises the playback of warped records.
Design
The puck is made from aluminium and weighs 405 g, enough mass to hold the record firmly against the platter and reduce the resonances that Pro-Ject identifies as harmful to sound quality. A felt mat is fitted to the underside so that the label is protected every time the puck is put in place, and the plain aluminium finish suits the Signature turntables it was designed for.
Compatibility
Although it was developed for the Signature 10 and Signature 12, it is described as a sound improvement for all turntables. It is sold on its own and is supplied without a turntable.
