The Pro-Ject Remote Control Media Box S is a matched accessory bundle from Pro-Ject's Box Design electronics range, combining two complementary products: the Remote Box S wireless control hub and the Media Box S digital audio player. Both units are built to the same compact dimensions as all Box Design separates, allowing them to sit neatly alongside a phono stage, amplifier, or other components in a stacked system.
Remote Box S: Whole-System Control via Smartphone
The Remote Box S replaces the collection of remote controls that accumulates in any multi-component system. Using IEEE 802.11bgn Wi-Fi, it connects to a home network and pairs with Pro-Ject's free Box Control App for iOS and Android. From within the app, a single interface operates all Box Design components, which are pre-programmed into the Remote Box S. Up to six additional IR-controlled devices from any brand can also be added, covering televisions, Blu-ray players, streamers, and amplifiers. IR commands are sent via four high-power LEDs on the front panel, with a 3.5mm jack output for an optional external IR emitter when line of sight is obstructed. A corresponding 3.5mm external receiver socket allows the internal IR receiver to be supplemented by an external one. Configuration and firmware updates are carried out via a Mini USB port.
Media Box S: Local Digital Audio Without a Computer
The Media Box S is a standalone digital audio player designed to play stored music directly from SD cards (up to 32 GB) or USB storage, including bus-powered USB hard drives, without needing a computer. It supports MP3, WMA, and AAC audio at data rates above 384 kbps with variable bit rate support. On-board digital-to-analogue conversion uses a 24-bit/96 kHz upsampling DAC with ultra-low jitter, and the analogue output noise floor reaches 100 dB. A coaxial S/PDIF digital output via RCA allows the Media Box S to feed an external DAC for even higher quality conversion. Track, album, artist, and playlist information are shown on a high-contrast 1.0-inch LCD display. Random and shuffle playback modes are included, along with IR remote control.
Box Design Integration
Both units are housed in the same compact metal casework used throughout the Pro-Ject Box Design range, measuring 103 mm wide and 36 mm tall, and available with either a silver or black faceplate. The matched proportions and consistent aesthetic make them straightforward to integrate into any Box Design stack alongside components such as the Phono Box, Amp Box, or Tube Box.
