The Record Puck RS sits at the top of Pro-Ject's range of record stabilisers, designed to maximise the contact between a vinyl record and the turntable platter. Where a standard record puck provides basic stabilisation, the RS variant uses a substantial brass construction to combine mechanical coupling with resonance damping, resulting in a more stable playback platform.
How it works
Record pucks function by using weight to press the vinyl record firmly against the turntable platter, eliminating any air gaps and reducing vibration. This tighter coupling improves tracking consistency and reduces resonance during playback, with audible benefits to timing, detail, and depth of sound. The black-painted Record Puck RS is machined from brass, giving it considerably more mass than entry-level aluminium alternatives.
Important compatibility note
At 1,030 grams, the Record Puck RS places significant load on the turntable bearing. It is not recommended for use with smaller or entry-level turntables, where bearing wear could result. Check your turntable's specifications before use. Additionally, the spindle height with the record applied must not exceed 10.5mm for the puck to sit correctly.
Finish and design
The black-painted version has a matt, understated appearance that suits the aesthetic of Pro-Ject's darker turntable finishes. A felt pad on the underside protects the record label during use. A chrome-finished version is also available for those who prefer a polished look.
