Stabilise Your Records
The Pro-Ject Record Puck E is an entry-level aluminium record weight designed to improve the contact between a vinyl record and the turntable platter. By pressing the record firmly against the platter, the puck reduces unwanted vibrations and micro-resonances, resulting in improved timing, better bass definition, and greater depth of sound. It is particularly effective for slightly warped records, helping them to sit flat and track more cleanly.
Finished in a satin black painted aluminium, the Record Puck E complements the aesthetic of Pro-Ject's black turntable range, including the Debut Carbon and Essential series. The underside features a soft felt mat to protect the record label from scratching.
Position in the Pro-Ject Puck Range
The Pro-Ject puck range spans from this entry-level model up to progressively heavier and more refined options. The Record Puck E sits at the foot of the range at 190g, making it suitable for turntables with standard bearings that cannot accommodate greater vertical loads. Above it sits the Record Puck (approx. 400g), the Record Puck S (approx. 500g), and the flagship Record Puck PRO, which is a precision-engineered two-part design intended for high-end decks with robust bearing assemblies. If your turntable's instruction manual specifies a maximum spindle-top clearance, check that the 16mm height of the Puck E does not cause the record to ride too high. Pro-Ject recommend the total spindle height with a record in place should not exceed 10.5mm with this puck fitted.
Practical Considerations
Before purchasing any record weight, confirm that your turntable's bearing is rated to accept the additional load, and check the spindle height as described above. The 190g mass of the Puck E is gentle on most belt-drive and direct-drive decks. The puck ships as a single unit and is available in both Black and Silver finishes to suit your setup.
