The platter is one of the most critical components in any turntable. To maintain stable speeds and minimise wow and flutter, it must be sufficiently heavy; to preserve signal purity, it must be free of resonances; and to prevent interference with the cartridge, it must be antimagnetic. The PRO Platter addresses all three requirements in a single, precision-engineered component.
High-End Performance for Entry-Level Decks
Die-cast aluminium platters of this calibre are typically found only in turntables costing £1,500 or more. Pro-Ject has made the PRO Platter available as a standalone upgrade so that owners of entry-level decks can benefit from the same platform stability that characterises the brand's higher-end models. At 1.7 kg and 300 mm in diameter, the PRO Platter significantly outweighs the standard platters supplied with the compatible turntables, resulting in a more stable rotational mass and lower susceptibility to speed variations.
Construction
The PRO Platter is manufactured from die-cast aluminium, chosen for its combination of rigidity, mass, and consistency of production. The surface is finished with a recessed felt mat area to keep the record seated correctly. The antimagnetic aluminium construction ensures that the platter does not influence the sensitive magnetic elements of the cartridge mounted above it.
Compatibility
The PRO Platter is designed as a direct-fit upgrade for several models in Pro-Ject's entry-level and mid-range lineup: Debut III, Debut Carbon (EVO), T1 (EVO), E1, Juke Box E1, and 1Xpression. No tools or modifications are required for installation; the platter simply replaces the existing one on the same spindle bearing.
