The Pro-Ject Power Box S3 Phono is a dedicated linear power supply (LPS) designed to replace the standard switched-mode power supply that comes bundled with Pro-Ject phono stages and turntables in the S3 Box Design series. By moving the power supply outside the main component and using precision linear voltage regulation, it eliminates the high-frequency switching noise inherent in conventional wall-wart PSUs, lowering the noise floor and letting your phono stage perform at its best.
The unit provides two independently regulated DC outputs: one at 15V for compatible Pro-Ject turntables and one at 18V for compatible Pro-Ject phono preamplifiers. Both outputs are derived from the same toroidal transformer and regulated with low-ESR capacitors, keeping ripple and interference to an absolute minimum. The rigid aluminium casing provides additional shielding against electromagnetic interference from neighbouring components.
Compatible phono stages include the Phono Box S3 B and other 18V phono stages in the S3 Box Design range. Compatible turntables include 15V DC Pro-Ject models (please note: it is not compatible with the X8, Xtension 9, Xtension 10, Xtension 12, RPM 9, RPM 10, Signature 10, or Signature 12 — for those models Pro-Ject recommends the Power Box RS2 Phono or Power Box RS Uni TT).
The Power Box S3 Phono also simplifies cable management: a single 42 cm power cable runs from the unit to your turntable and phono preamp, replacing the usual tangle of individual PSU adaptors. Finished in silver to match the S3 Box Design aesthetic. Also available in black.
