The Power Box RS2 Phono sits within Pro-Ject’s RS (Reference Series) line of power supply upgrades, designed to replace the standard switch-mode adapters supplied with the brand’s turntables and phono preamplifiers. Where the standard adapters prioritise compact size and cost, the RS2 Phono is a dedicated dual-output linear supply built to eliminate electrical noise at its source.
Linear Supply Design
At the core of the Power Box RS2 Phono is an audio-grade toroidal transformer with copper foil shielding, chosen for its low mechanical hum and resistance to mains-borne interference. The transformer feeds 10,000 µF of filtration capacitance using low-ESR capacitors, providing a stable, low-impedance power reserve that switch-mode supplies cannot match. Surge protection and a soft-start circuit are included to prevent current inrush at switch-on, protecting both the supply itself and the connected components.
Dual Output Configuration
The RS2 Phono provides two independent DC outputs from a single chassis. Output 1 delivers 15 V DC at up to 2 A with ±0.5% ripple, compatible with all Pro-Ject turntables that use a 15 V DC supply. Output 2 delivers ±18 V DC at up to 2 A with ±0.5% ripple, compatible with all Pro-Ject phono stages. Both outputs operate simultaneously, allowing a complete turntable and phono stage setup to be powered from a single, clean source.
Construction
The chassis is a full aluminium housing, designed and manufactured in Europe. Premium Connect It Power cables (1 m) are included for connecting the Power Box RS2 Phono to the turntable and phono stage.
