The Pro-Ject Lead IT C is a set of four colour-coded headshell leads designed as a quality upgrade for SME-style tonearm headshells. Positioned in Pro-Ject's accessories range, the Lead IT C targets turntable owners who want to improve the signal path between cartridge and tonearm without undertaking a full tonearm upgrade.
Construction
Each lead is built around 99,999% OFC (oxygen-free copper) conductors in a 7 x 0.1mm core strand construction. This multi-strand geometry maintains flexibility while maximising conductivity, helping to preserve the delicate signal generated by the cartridge stylus. The connectors are gold-plated beryllium copper, a material chosen for its combination of stiffness, electrical conductivity, and corrosion resistance.
Spring Connector Technology
Pro-Ject uses spring connector technology in the Lead IT C, which ensures consistent, reliable contact with the cartridge pins on installation. The spring mechanism maintains contact pressure over time, reducing the risk of signal loss due to connector movement or wear. Installation is straightforward, with the colour coding of each lead matching the standard cartridge pin convention to simplify correct channel and phase identification.
