The Debut PRO S Balanced sits at the top of Pro-Ject's Debut line, building on the standard Debut PRO with one key addition: a true balanced output via a mini XLR connector. Where most turntables output an unbalanced signal susceptible to interference, the Debut PRO S Balanced carries a fully differential signal all the way from the cartridge to the phono stage or preamplifier, preserving fine low-level detail and reducing noise over longer cable runs.
Precision Engineering Throughout
The chassis, platter, tonearm, and feet are all finished in matte black, giving the deck a uniform, understated aesthetic. The 300mm die-cast aluminium platter is precision balanced during manufacture and fitted with a TPE damping ring to absorb unwanted resonance. An aluminium subplatter and precision main bearing complete the foundation, ensuring stable platter rotation with minimal friction.
10-Inch S-Shaped Tonearm
Pro-Ject developed the 10-inch S-shaped aluminium tonearm specifically for the PRO series, using CNC-milled bearing parts to tighten tolerances beyond what is found in the standard Debut range. Effective arm length is 254mm with 16mm overhang. Azimuth and vertical tracking angle are both user-adjustable, allowing precise setup for the included cartridge or an aftermarket replacement. The tonearm connects to the output stage via the balanced mini XLR socket at the rear.
Electronic Speed Control and Three Speeds
An electronically regulated synchronous motor drives the platter via a round belt. Speed is selected by a toggle switch on the plinth, covering 33, 45, and 78 RPM. A separate 78 RPM belt is included for playing shellac records, and a Record Puck E is supplied for additional platter damping during playback.
Pick it S2 C Cartridge Included
The deck is supplied with Pro-Ject's Pick it S2 C cartridge, a moving-coil design matched to the balanced tonearm. The anti-magnetic platter construction ensures the MC cartridge operates without magnetic interference from the platter itself.
Specifications Summary
Wow and flutter measures 0.16% at 33 RPM and 0.14% at 45 RPM, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 68dB. The deck draws 4W during playback and drops to 0W standby. Dimensions without the dust cover are 462 x 145 x 345mm (W x H x D), and the deck weighs 7kg. The supplied power supply is rated 15V DC at 0.8A.
