Entry-Level True Balanced Phono Cable
The Pro-Ject Connect it Phono E RCA / MiniXLR is an entry-level phono interconnect designed for turntables with a balanced (True Balanced) tonearm output, connecting to a conventional single-ended phono stage or amplifier input. One end terminates in a gold-plated MiniXLR connector for the balanced tonearm side; the other uses a gold-plated RCA plug for the phono stage. This hybrid topology delivers the interference-rejection benefits of a balanced tonearm connection while remaining compatible with standard phono inputs.
Construction and Connectors
The cable is built around a 99.99% oxygen-free copper conductor with a polyethylene dielectric, a tin-plated copper shield, and a transparent PVC outer jacket. The gold-plated brass connectors at each end ensure a low-resistance, long-lasting contact. A direction mark on the cable indicates which end should connect to the receiving device (the phono stage), helping to minimise hum pickup.
True Balanced Connection
Pro-Ject's True Balanced system uses a fully symmetrical tonearm wiring arrangement to reject interference before it reaches the phono stage. Where both your turntable and phono stage support True Balanced connections, a MiniXLR to MiniXLR cable is used throughout; this RCA / MiniXLR variant is the correct choice when the turntable has a balanced tonearm output but the phono stage has conventional RCA inputs.
Specifications at a Glance
At 1.23 metres, the cable suits most equipment rack configurations. The OFC copper conductor keeps capacitance low, keeping the frequency response flat and extended with moving-magnet cartridges.
