Entry-Level Audiophile Phono Cable
The Pro-Ject Connect it Phono E is an entry-level phono interconnect cable designed to connect a turntable's tonearm to a phono stage or amplifier. Built around a 99.99% oxygen-free copper conductor, it delivers clean, low-loss signal transmission at a sensible price, making it an ideal upgrade over a basic bundled cable or a natural first step into purpose-made analogue interconnects.
Construction and Connectors
The cable uses a 2 x 0.2mm² OFC copper conductor with a polyethylene dielectric, a tin-plated copper shield, and a transparent PVC outer jacket. The connectors are gold-plated brass RCA plugs, chosen for long-lasting conductivity and a secure, low-resistance contact at both the turntable and phono stage ends.
Semi-Symmetrical Design
The Connect it Phono E uses a semi-symmetrical (single-ended shielding) topology: the shield is grounded at one end only, which reduces hum and interference pickup. A yellow direction mark on the cable indicates which end should connect to the receiving device, such as the phono stage input. This design is particularly effective at suppressing the interference common in turntable installations.
Specifications at a Glance
At 1.23 metres in length, the Phono E RCA suits most equipment rack configurations. The cable capacitance of 130 pF at this length is well within the range suitable for moving-magnet cartridges, ensuring frequency response remains flat and extended.
