DS-Line Dual-Shielded Construction
The Pro-Ject Connect it Phono DS RCA is the dual-shielded step up from the entry-level E version, purpose-built for connecting a turntable to a phono stage. The cable uses a 99.99% pure OFC (oxygen-free copper) conductor in a 2 x 0.2mm² configuration, chosen for its high conductivity and low signal loss.
The shielding arrangement is what sets the DS apart: an outer helical OFC copper braid works in combination with a carbon-saturated conductive sub-jacket to provide thorough protection against electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference. This dual-layer approach keeps noise out of the signal path without compromising the cable’s flexibility.
Silver-Plated Connectors
All DS-Line connectors use silver-plated signal pins. Silver offers higher conductivity and lower contact resistance than gold, making it particularly well-suited to the low-level signals generated by a phono cartridge. The connectors are solidly constructed with quality plugs that seat firmly in both turntable and phono stage sockets.
Low Capacitance for Phono Use
Cable capacitance matters in phono applications because it interacts with the cartridge’s internal inductance to form a resonant circuit that affects the high-frequency response. At 1.23m the Connect it Phono DS measures just 90 pF total, a low figure that helps preserve treble detail and cartridge tracking performance. The high-flexibility cell polyethylene dielectric and thermoplastic elastomer jacket keep the cable supple and easy to route.
Designed for Pro-Ject Turntables
The 1.23m length is the standard phono cable length in the Pro-Ject Connect it DS range, sized to reach comfortably from a turntable on a rack to a phono stage or integrated amplifier below. The cable is handmade in Europe and carries Pro-Ject’s DS-Line designation, which spans phono and line-level variants across RCA and balanced connector options.
