The Connect it Line DS sits in the middle of Pro-Ject's four-tier Connect it cable family, above the entry-level E-Line and below the top-of-the-range RS. It is the dedicated line-level counterpart to the Phono DS, sharing the same DS-series conductor, shielding, and connector architecture, but optimised for signal levels between source components and amplifiers rather than turntable cartridges.
Construction
The conductor is a high-purity 99.99% oxygen-free copper (OFC) drawn to 2 x 0.2mm², chosen for its very low cable capacitance, which helps preserve treble extension and transparency at line level. The dielectric is a high-flexible cell polyethylene, selected for its low loss characteristics. The shielding combines an OFC copper helix with a carbon-saturated conductive sub-jacket; the carbon layer provides an additional path to ground that attenuates high-frequency interference without adding audible colouration to the signal. The outer jacket is a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) chosen for flexibility and durability.
Connectors
The DS-line connectors feature silver-plated signal pins rather than the gold plating used on the E-line. Silver offers lower contact resistance than gold for a direct signal transfer, and any surface oxidation that forms on silver remains electrically conductive, so signal integrity is maintained over the product's lifetime. The connector bodies are solid and machined to a close fit.
Origin and Quality
Every Connect it DS cable is handmade in Europe, with assembly carried out by hand to ensure consistent geometry throughout the cable run. The 0.82m length of this particular pair suits connections between components separated by a moderate gap on the rack, giving a comfortable loop without excessive slack.
