The Pro-Ject Colourful Audio System E sits within Pro-Ject's range of complete hi-fi systems, positioned below the Colourful Audio System 2 which pairs the Debut EVO 2 turntable with the MaiA amplifier. The System E brings together the Debut E turntable, Stereo Box E amplifier and Speaker Box 5 E Carbon bookshelf speakers in a single coordinated package, offering a straightforward route into vinyl playback without the complexity of selecting individual separates.
Debut E Turntable
The Debut E is a belt-driven turntable handmade in Europe, built on a solid MDF plinth with a 300mm steel platter designed to minimise wow and flutter. An 8.6-inch one-piece aluminium tonearm provides a rigid, low-resonance platform for the pre-fitted Ortofon OM 5E cartridge. Electronic speed change covers 33, 45 and 78 RPM, with a dedicated 78 RPM belt and 7-inch adapter included in the box. A hinged dust cover is supplied as standard.
Stereo Box E Amplifier
The Stereo Box E delivers 2 × 40W into 4Ω and handles up to seven input sources. A dedicated phono MM input with grounding screw connects the Debut E directly, while two line-level RCA inputs, a 3.5mm auxiliary jack, coaxial and optical S/PDIF digital inputs, and aptX HD Bluetooth (24-bit/48kHz) cover external devices from CD transports to smartphones. A 3.5mm headphone output and subwoofer output are provided on the front panel. The compact chassis measures just 206 × 51 × 186mm and weighs 1kg, powered by an external 20V/3A supply.
Speaker Box 5 E Carbon
The Speaker Box 5 E Carbon is a two-way bass reflex bookshelf speaker pairing a 1-inch silk dome tweeter with a 5-inch carbon fibre woofer. The rear-firing port extends low-frequency reach to 65Hz, while sensitivity of 86dB (1W/1m) at a nominal 4Ω impedance ensures an easy load for the Stereo Box E. Each speaker measures 270 × 165 × 220mm and weighs 4.76kg. Black speaker grilles are included.
Included Accessories
The system ships with a pair of LS E Flex speaker cables (2 × 3m), constructed from high-purity oxygen-free copper and terminated with gold-plated banana plugs for a tool-free connection. Power supplies for both the turntable and amplifier, a remote control for the Stereo Box E, a 78 RPM belt, and a 7-inch adapter are all included.
