The Pro-Ject CD SET E is a carefully matched, all-in-one hi-fi system designed for anyone who wants to enjoy their CD collection with genuinely high-fidelity sound, without the complexity of sourcing individual components. Sitting at the accessible end of Pro-Ject’s modular E-series range, the set pairs three complementary components in a single package: the CD Box E player, the Stereo Box E integrated amplifier, and the Speaker Box 3E Carbon bookshelf speakers.
CD Box E
The CD Box E is a compact, slot-loading CD player built around a true Red Book CD-DA drive in shock-proof mounting. Its internal DAC uses a 24-bit/192 kHz, low-jitter, multi-bit delta-sigma architecture to deliver bit-accurate playback. A brushed, anodised aluminium front panel matches the Stereo Box E for a cohesive stacked appearance. Output is via a single pair of RCA line-level connectors, with an additional S/PDIF coaxial output should you ever wish to connect an external DAC. A battery remote control is included.
Stereo Box E
The Stereo Box E integrated amplifier delivers 2 x 21W at 8 ohms (2 x 40W at 4 ohms), providing ample headroom to drive the included speakers and many third-party designs. Its fully analogue preamplifier stage uses a motor-driven volume potentiometer. Seven inputs cover almost any source: a phono input for MM, MI, or high-output MC cartridges; two analogue line inputs (RCA and 3.5 mm jack); two optical and one coaxial S/PDIF digital inputs; and Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD. A 6.3 mm headphone output on the front panel switches the amplifier automatically when headphones are connected. A USB-C output on the rear provides clean power for modern network streamers, removing the need for an extra power supply. A subwoofer output is also included.
Speaker Box 3E Carbon
The Speaker Box 3E Carbon is a compact two-way bass-reflex loudspeaker designed to complement the Stereo Box E. Its 3-inch woofer uses a cutting-edge fibre-glass carbon composite cone for precise impulse response and a clean, open midrange. A 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter handles high frequencies. The rear-firing reflex port extends bass response down to 83 Hz. Sensitivity is 85 dB (1W/1m) into a nominal 4-ohm load, and Pro-Ject recommends a minimum amplifier output of 10 watts per channel. Magnetic speaker grilles in black are included.
Included Accessories
The set includes a 2-metre speaker cable for straightforward bare-wire connection, and a 25 cm RCA interconnect to link the CD Box E directly to the Stereo Box E in a stacked arrangement. Both components arrive in a branded outer carton for a clean unboxing experience.
