The Align It S is a straightforward yet highly effective cartridge alignment tool designed to make setting up a turntable cartridge as accurate and repeatable as possible. Made from clear acrylic, it sits on the turntable platter and provides three separate protractor geometries in a single template, allowing the user to align their cartridge using whichever standard best suits their tonearm and listening preferences.
Three Geometries in One Tool
Most cartridge alignment protractors offer only one alignment standard, but the Align It S includes Baerwald, Lofgren B, and Stevenson geometries printed on a single acrylic template. Baerwald is an excellent all-round choice that distributes tracking error evenly across the record surface and suits a wide range of music. Lofgren B minimises the overall tracking error distortion across the groove, making it well suited to those who prioritise measured accuracy. Stevenson places the inner null point close to the lead-out groove, which can reduce distortion on the final tracks of a record side. Having all three on one tool means you can experiment and choose the geometry that works best for your setup without needing separate tools.
Universal Compatibility
The Align It S works with any tonearm that has an effective length between 8 and 12 inches, which covers the vast majority of turntables from Pro-Ject and other manufacturers. It is not restricted to Pro-Ject turntables, making it a useful addition to any vinyl setup regardless of brand.
Simple to Use
To use the tool, place it on the platter so that the spindle hole locates over the record spindle. Position the tonearm and cartridge over the chosen protractor pattern and adjust the cartridge mounting position within the headshell until the stylus sits precisely on the alignment grid with the cartridge body parallel to the printed lines. This two-point null method ensures correct overhang and zenith angle for the selected geometry.
