The Align It PRO sits at the top of Pro-Ject's alignment tool range, designed for vinyl enthusiasts who demand uncompromising precision when setting up a cartridge. It is suited to all Pro-Ject turntables and, depending on pivot-to-spindle distance, a wide range of other manufacturers' tonearms.
Unique Workflow
Conventional alignment protractors require the user to move back and forth between an inner and an outer null point to achieve accurate overhang. The Align It PRO eliminates this by fixing directly to the centre of the tonearm bearing. For Pro-Ject tonearms, the included fixing rod offers two ends: a pointed tip suitable for any bearing type, and a flat end that locates precisely into the centre screw of higher-end Pro-Ject tonearms including the X1, X2, CC, and CC Evo. Once fixed, the exact overhang distance is set in a single step, with only the inner null point printed on the tool because no outer null point reference is needed. This approach delivers a level of accuracy that conventional two-point protractors cannot match.
Baerwald Geometry
The Align It PRO uses the Baerwald alignment geometry, an excellent all-rounder that balances inner and outer groove tracking whilst maintaining strong linearity across the middle portion of a record. Baerwald is particularly well suited to modern releases, which increasingly favour shorter playing times per side with material spread across two or more records. It works universally well across a broad range of musical genres and recording styles.
Construction and Adjustments
The body is precision-machined from optically clear acrylic, allowing the stylus and cartridge position to be observed directly through the tool during alignment. All three alignment adjustments can be performed with the tool in place: overhang, azimuth, and tangentiality. Tonearm length markings for 8.6", 9", 10", and 12" are engraved directly into the acrylic.
