Description

The Acryl It A sits at the entry point of Pro-Ject’s platter upgrade range, designed to replace the standard metal platter on a wide range of Pro-Ject turntables. The upgrade is straightforward: lift off the existing metal platter and fit the Acryl It A in its place, with no tools or modification required.

Material and Construction

The platter is machined from acrylic with a satined (satin-matte) surface finish. Unlike a metal platter, the acrylic material is acoustically inert, meaning it does not ring or sustain resonance when energised by the stylus and motor. Because the surface itself damps micro-vibrations, no felt mat is needed between the record and the platter: the vinyl can sit directly on the acrylic surface. This direct contact improves the transfer of energy from the stylus through the record into the platter, rather than into an intermediate felt layer.

Sonic Character

Pro-Ject describe the effect as a more liquid, composed presentation, with platter resonances removed from the signal path. The label recess is machined into the centre of the platter, so the record sits flat across its full playing surface.

Compatibility

The Acryl It A is suitable for Pro-Ject Debut, E1, T1, and 1Xpression turntables. It measures 300mm in diameter and 18mm in height, matching the spindle geometry of these models. For Pro-Ject’s smaller-diameter decks (Debut E and variants), the Acryl It E with a 285mm diameter is available separately.
