Replacement Counterweight for the Pro-Ject Debut PRO
The Pro-Ject Debut PRO Counterweight 90g (part number 026) is a genuine replacement counterweight designed for use with the tonearm fitted to the Pro-Ject Debut PRO turntable. Counterweights set the tracking force of the cartridge: by positioning the counterweight along the rear of the tonearm tube, the stylus is pressed into the record groove at the correct force specified by the cartridge manufacturer.
Why Change the Counterweight?
The standard counterweight supplied with the Debut PRO tonearm is optimised for cartridges of a particular mass range. Fitting a cartridge that is significantly heavier than the original requires a lighter counterweight, so that the balance point sits close to the tonearm bearing pivot when the tracking force is set correctly. A counterweight that is too heavy for the cartridge will sit too far forward on the tube, increasing the risk of micro-vibrations affecting playback. At 90g, this counterweight is suited to heavier cartridges that fall outside the range of the standard fitment.
Identification
Each Pro-Ject replacement counterweight carries a three-digit code on the body. This counterweight bears the code 026 and weighs 90g. Correct identification ensures the right counterweight is ordered for the tonearm in use.
